Training Opportunities

We regularly offer trainings on behavior management and spiritual exploration in the social service setting. Presentations focus on tools to help you meet the needs of children with behavior and emotional challenges and families living on the fringes. We are also able to customize trainings to fit your needs.

Setting Clear Expectations & Introduction to Redirection

session will focus on how leaders can set clear expectations. It will explore the use of a common language to set standards for the group. Participants will evaluate various program environments and assess what kids can do to be successful in each area. This training gives leaders a tool kit to help kids manage their own behavior. Also includes redirection strategies and development of a consistent response plan to problem behaviors.

Navigating Challenging Situations with Children

This module will build on principles of setting clear expectations, with a focus on escalation prevention. It will also include an introduction to the concept of the escalation cycle, and to attempting to determine the motivator(s) behind an escalation. Lastly, this session will introduce participants to basic principles of de-escalation and love and logic infused redirection.

Understanding and Placing Value on Children

This session will focus on our response to the experiences children bring with them into programming. We will consider the culture of poverty and the impact of various types of poverty on the child and explore our own assumptions and how they color our approach. We will talk about core values and see how we can integrate them into the day to day. Finally, we will look at the power of each child’s story and effective ways to interact with their story as caregivers.
